Prepare Before Applying

Okay, so basically every morning we wake up both looking and feeling like crap. If you somehow don't... I envy you. Anyways, like most of us you may have a busy schedule be it work or kids. Looking great and feeling great will help you jump start your day. So here's a basic 5-step plan to ready your face for any makeup application. This method will clean off any dirt and grime that may have gathered while you slept and will also reduce the amount of bacteria on your skin.

1) Wash your face with an acne cleanser.  Try a cleanser with the bursting beads. A common and affordable brand is Clean & Clear Morning GlowRub it thoroughly and use an exfoliating scrub brush or pad if you like. Let it stay for whatever time is recommended, or at least two minutes, then rinse off with cold water.

2) Pat your face dry with a clean towel. I recommend having a separate washcloth just for this.

3) Apply a moisturizer with SPF. This is an alternative to primer. Primer will often cause your skin to darken and can also collect dirt. Moisturizers soak into your skin and the SPF will be there all day to protect you.

4) Apply a concealer. Don't overuse your concealer! Only apply where needed and only in needed amounts. Waking up in the morning... or afternoon means dark circles. Go ahead and apply a concealer stick under your eyes. Blot any scars or acne marks you want to cover up. Make sure you have clean hands before applying. Use a makeup sponge to apply or a stick. If you're using a stick make sure to clean before and after use.

5) Brush over some powder. Take a makeup brush and evenly sweep a pressed powder over your face. If you aren't a fan of pressed powder opt out for baby powder. It will help absorb oils and sweat and will give your skin a fresh look.

Great! Now go ahead and start your makeup as you like!
